Program Description: SJU is a new university designed for international students who would like to spend a summer, semester or year studying in Italy. SJU allows you the opportunity to be immersed in the Italian language and culture if learning Italian is your primary goal. Or, you may study in English too. SJU offers a variety of courses, most of which are in the humanities. You must take at least one Italian language course, and then may choose the rest of your courses from SJU’s courses offered in English. Altogether, SJU requires that you take minimum of 15 credits per semester. SJU offers courses in a variety of subjects, though most are in the humanities. Courses are held from Monday to Thursday (including both morning and afternoon courses) in order to leave the students time to take advantage of our unique location in northern Italy to visit other areas of Europe and Italy during the weekends. Housing is in traditional apartments of, usually, three to four students with two beds in each bedroom. The apartments are, for the most part, just outside the historical city center and are therefore suitable for students who prefer quiet accommodations in quiet areas, at a short bus ride from school.

The whole town becomes the campus for students taking classes at Scuola Lorenzo de' Medici in Tuscania. The Lorenzo de' Medici School in Tuscania offers courses to students from all over the world in Italian language, art, and culture allowing students to study and carry out research through an exchange between cultures.

In this program, which runs from late September to early August, students enroll in intensive Italian language courses for foreign students, taught by native-born faculty from the University of Urbino. Students also enroll in regular university courses. Fields of study include business, economics, history, humanities, language study, literature, and social sciences. Field trips to Venice, Rome, Florence, Gubbio, and Assisi round out your total Italian experience.
Eligibility Requirements: Students who have completed at least two full-time semesters of college level study are eligible to apply. Minimum GPA of 2.5 required. Must have completed Int Italian II at time of application.
